A winter christening in Glyfada for Micaela, at Agios Nikolaos, followed by a reception at Vive Mare in Voula. A christening story by arChive Visual Storytellers
The CHRISTENING
Micaela's christening took place at Agios Nikolaos in Glyfada, followed by a reception at Vive Mare on the coast in Voula. The calm winter period before the city's social calendar picks back up gave the day a slower pace, family gathered close, the rough grey sea standing as backdrop to a bright pink day.
Our approach
We had already photographed this family's wedding a few years earlier, on Milos, one of several couples in a close circle of friends who married there around the same time. We like to call them our Geneva office, since they all live in Switzerland. The beach fires, the late-night music, the group of friends who are now raising their own families, all of it stayed with us.
Micaela's christening felt like a continuation of that story rather than a new one. The connection between us and this family has only grown since, and being trusted with these smaller, quieter moments after photographing their wedding means more to us than the photographs alone.
We made a home visit for a relaxed session with Micaela and her parents, and to steal a voice-over for the film that complemented the day's coverage. In it, every guest appears saying "ciao Micaela," a warm welcome for the newest member of the family.
