A three-day celebration in Sifnos lets you photograph a wedding the way it actually unfolds, with rest between the moments, conversation between the rituals, family time before the ceremony. Sanem and Kostas had built their day around hospitality, and we photographed every moment as we were supposed to: present, attentive, out of the way until needed. The henna ceremony in particular is one of those events that closes the moment a camera tries too hard. We kept ours quiet. The portraits at Kastro and the reception at Fasolou opened up. Sanem's preparation in Selana Suites and the ceremony at Chrisopigi held its own pace.
Behind the wedding itself, we worked on something else. Together with their parents, we put together a film neither Sanem nor Kostas knew about. Childhood footage and photos from both families, parental words spoken to camera, precious memories recorded for keeping. It played at our delivery presentation. The reaction belongs to them, but the film became part of what they took home from Sifnos.
