For several years, we've documented Professor Afxentios Kalangos' work in operating rooms, part of an ongoing collaboration that will be published separately through Viceversa.gr. This time, the occasion was personal rather than professional: the christening of his son, Afxentios Leonidas Markos.

The ceremony took place at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Kefalari, Kifisia, followed by a reception at The Twenty One Hotel. Our coverage stayed to these two settings only, the ceremony and the reception, in keeping with the formality the day called for. European royalty served as godparents, and the guest list carried the same level of protocol, with family, friends, and figures from Greek society in attendance, including Marianna Vardinogiannis, who supported the professor's charitable work for years before her passing in 2023.

Days like this are shaped by protocol. It determines where we can stand, how close we can get, and how visible the camera can be throughout the ceremony and reception. Working within that formality without letting it show in the final images is the kind of discipline we're used to from events like this, more of a challenge than a restriction.
