ABOUT

A wedding in Chrisopigi Monastery for Ioanna and Fanis on Sifnos, with reception at Lazarou Beach and a day-after session across the island. Photography by arChive.

The wedding

Ioanna and Fanis celebrated their wedding over three days on Sifnos, dedicating time to family, friends, the sea, and local cuisine. The bride prepared at Verina Terra in Platis Gialos, then crossed to the ceremony aboard a traditional kaiki, sailing into one of the most beautiful coves in the Aegean. One of the most memorable ceremony exits we have photographed: the couple were greeted outside Chrisopigi with sacks of lentils and beans instead of rice. The wedding ceremony took place at Chrisopigi, followed by a reception at Lazarou Beach. The following day, we accompanied them to a small, unnamed monastery near Kamares, explored the white alleys of Artemonas, and conducted a photography session on their rib boat off the coast. We have the photographs to prove all of it.

Our approach

A three-day wedding on Sifnos demands endurance and strategy. The couple set the pace, while we, as photographers, adapted and remained unobtrusive. Ioanna and Fanis gathered family and friends who organized themselves, allowing us to observe and capture moments rather than direct them. Chrisopigi provided the traditional Sifnos ceremony, with one unique detail: instead of rice, guests threw sacks of lentils and beans as the couple departed. We documented this and became part of the casualties. After dark, Lazarou Beach hosted a generous long-table reception characteristic of such celebrations. The following day, we traversed the island, from a small unnamed monastery near Kamares to the alleys of Artemonas and the couple's own boat at sea. Photography and film progressed in tandem throughout the event, reflecting our approach to commissions of this scale.

In their own words

Giorgos and Angela are moment hunters. It’s very simple and self explanatory, as they will ‘kill’ to grasp that tiny amazing small moment that it’s so powerful and you never even noticed, and your wedding day it’s over, but they noticed and it’s there captured for you for ever! They are the best choice you can ever make, as they are not ordinary photographers. I am afraid I have no words to express how grateful and blessed we are that we accidentally found them and they accepted to become our storytellers for our special day. In few words, they go above and beyond expectations on everything – visually, conceptually, professionally – they are thee with you, without you knowing, they will bring out your best self, your emotions, your authentic thoughts on film. They are magicians, capturing the milli seconds of your most hidden moments during your wedding days, make sure you get to meet them and know them and connect with them before making any other choice. Thank you arChive, we love you deeply.”
