ABOUT

A wedding cruise around Milos for Myrto and Niels, following their wedding at Ktima 48. Photography and film by arChive Visual Storytellers.

The CRUISE

The cruise started from Paleochori beach and made its way along Milos' south and southwest coast, where the volcanic rock has been carved by the sea into caves and inlets rather than open beaches. Sykia Cave was the first stop, its collapsed roof letting light in from above the water.

Kleftiko came next. The sea caves and rock arches here are only reachable by tender, and the water shifts between turquoise and clear depending on where the light falls. This is where we stayed the longest, moving in and out of the caves and exploring every hidden cove.

From Kleftiko the boat continued to Gerakas, a beach below Milos' old mining works on the island's southern coast, quieter than the morning's stops and reached by very few of the day-trip boats that circle the island.

On the way back the group slowed down. Watermelon on deck, karpouzi, and the kind of photographs that happen once nobody is paying attention to the camera.

Our approach

A large part of the day was covered from the air. Kleftiko's water and rock formations read differently from above than from sea level, so the drone carried a part of the coverage, following the boat and the tender between caves. Two images from the day stand apart: the couple alone on a small rock in the water at Kleftiko, shot from a tender, and a top aerial view of the two of them lying alone on the beach at Gerakas.
