Alessio Sokratis was christened at a family estate in Marmari, on the island of Evia. The estate has its own chapel, so the whole day evolved in one place: getting ready, the ceremony, and the reception by the sea. Photography by arChive Visual Storytellers
The CHRISTENING
Evia is Greece's second-largest island. It sits right next to the mainland, joined by the Euripus Bridge in Chalkida, about a 1 to 1.5-hour drive from Kifisia. You can also reach it by a short ferry. The island has thermal springs in the north, at Edipsos, and quiet coves in the south, where Marmari sits.
We arrived early to photograph the decoration and setup, done by MRCO. Family portraits followed in the villa garden, before moving to the estate's private chapel for the ceremony. The reception followed on the grounds, overlooking the Euboean Gulf.
Our approach
A private chapel on the family's own land meant no crowds and no shared space, just this family and their closest guests. It gave the day room to breathe and the family to be more relaxed and intimate.
Having already photographed other important moments for this family meant returning to complement a story we were already part of. This kind of legacy gives our work a different kind of meaning and substance.
The decoration followed a lemon and indigo-blue theme, geometrical summer patterns that we carried through into the album design as well.
