ABOUT

An editorial wedding photo shoot at Limni Plastira (Lake Plastiras), a lake in the Agrafa mountains of Central Greece. Photography by arChive Visual Storytellers.

The WEDDING

Lake Plastiras located in the Agrafa mountains of Karditsa, is one of the largest artificial lakes in Greece. Built from a vision by General Nikolaos Plastiras, the lake is fed by the Tavropos river and sits high enough that its surrounding peaks stay green through summer and turn white with the first snow. A single wooded islet holds the centre of the water, and the road around the shoreline changes character at every turn: dense forest, narrow inlets, open water framed by cliffs.
We had already ridden around the lake and its dam on earlier visits, and the idea for a styled bridal shoot grew out of that familiarity rather than a single trip. A message, three photographs and a phone call were enough to set a wedding dress against this scenery.
Preparation and part of the shoot were based at Pandion Hotel Resort, in stone guest houses overlooking the lake. The dress moved through the landscape along the water's edge and the tree line, set against the lake's blues and greens as the light shifted.
We have returned to the lake across different seasons since. Autumn colour on the fells gives way to snow overnight, and winter sunsets over the water are some of the most striking we have found at any of our locations.

Our approach

This was not a wedding day. Instead, it was a creative concept, tested in a familiar and trusted landscape.
We had previously scouted the lake and dam, so we selected the shoot locations in advance. A mix of dense tree line, open shoreline and the narrow inlets where the water sits closest to the cliffs. We made Winter work in our favour. The overcast blue sky made the shoot feel more romantic than summer light ever could. We moved between that moody backdrop and the shoreline, where sunlight broke through and horses walked along the water's edge.

The dress defined the approach. Its laces and ruffles required a setting with enough texture and depth to complement, rather than compete with, the scenery. Central Greece, distinct from the islands and their familiar wedding imagery, provided the ideal backdrop.

Professionally shaped light amplified the mood of each setup Retouching and colour grading followed though the iamge editing to magazine standards, the same process we bring to fashion work commissioned by gown manufacturers and fashion brands. That level of work shapes how we approach every wedding we shoot, brought to each couple who chooses us.
