ABOUT

A Milos wedding for Afroditi and Giuseppe, from Greece and Parma. Pre-wedding at Agia Kiriaki beach, ceremony at the Church of Panagia Korfiatissa, reception at Paleochori beach, and a day-after at Sarakiniko. Photography by arChive Visual Storytellers.

The wedding

Milos stands out for its colours and unique geology. Depending on where you are, Tsigrado, Kleftiko or  Firopotamos, the beaches change from white to turquoise to red. The water shows off so many shades of blue and green that you can’t name them all. The landscape feels wilder than most of the Cyclades. You meet it only in Milos, Kimolos,or Polyaigos. It was the perfect place for this wedding.
Afroditi is Greek. Giuseppe comes from Parma and has a charm that everyone understands. During the celebration, he sang a Greek song with such feeling that everyone paused to listen. Italian and Greek families, along with friends from around the world, came together on an island that surprised them in the best way.
The day started with preparations at Thalassitra hotel and Afroditi’s home in Plaka, and then moved to the Church of Panagia Korfiatissa for the ceremony. The reception followed at Palaiochori, one of the most distinctive beaches on the island — the volcanic sand, the open sea, the light in the last hours of the day.
The day after was in Sarakiniko. White pumice rock carved by wind and water into something that belongs on no map you have ever seen. That is where the portraits were made.

Our approach

Milos has over seventy beaches, and its coastline changes every few kilometres. We arrived before the wedding and explored the island in detail, checking out the locations, the light at different times of day, and the logistics between venues. That preparation is not incidental. It is the work before the work.

The day before the wedding we attended the pre-wedding party at Agia Kiriaki, followed by an evening surprise kantada for Giuseppe at Afroditi's house. Everything documented. The ceremony took place at Panagia Korfiatissa, with the bride walking through the whitewashed alleys of Plaka. We took advantage of the landscape and the warm sunset to make wedding portraits after the ceremony, then moved to Paleochori for the reception. Classic Italian attitude, ending with candle lanterns released into the summer sky and swimming in the night sea.

The day-after began at Sarakiniko in the softer afternoon light, at the time of day when everything softens. We finished the session in the remote Thiorichio area, where their story was photographed as planned.

Afroditi and Giuseppe trusted us with their four-day celebration that brought out the best in every place we visited on the island.

In their own words

It was love at first sight! We knew the moment we met Angela and Giorgos that they were the ones. Two great individuals, absolute professionals with amazing talent and passion but even more important very human, full of emotions that inspired us immediately. We had found our wedding storytellers! We trusted them, they became “our people” in this unique life experience. They “followed” us everywhere, super discreet and at the same time super present, sharing our enthusiasm, joy, even our tears of happiness. Our photographs speak for themselves, equal to thousands of words, emotions, colors and wonderful memories that will stay with us in the years to come. Thank you both for everything!!!
