The wedding
Koufonisia is the kind of island you remember long after you leave. It’s like a classic Greek postcard, with turquoise waters that stick in your mind. The island is small, calm, and full of simple beauty. It’s the perfect place for a small wedding, because the island already has everything you could want.
Dimitra and Vassilis made a great choice. They invited only a few close guests, friends and family, bringing together people to share something meaningful instead of having a big open wedding.Vassilis got ready with his closest friends, sharing rum with pineapple and raising their glasses more than once. It was the kind of afternoon that felt special to everyone there. Dimitra prepared with the Aegean Sea outside her window, her Zoulias dress waiting, and her friends helping her get dressed, just as tradition suggests. Everything happened at a relaxed pace, with each detail carefully planned. The ceremony took place at Agios Georgios, a small chapel tucked into a narrow alley in Pano Koufonisi on a Saturday afternoon. Afterward, everyone went to Sorokos, a well-known bar right on the beach and the stone walkway, where Cycladic design meets a few unexpected touches. With a breeze from Keros, clear water below, and lots of tapas, cocktails, and rakomelo, the celebration went on late into the night.
Our approach
Koufonisia is a place we return to again and again. The island feels familiar in the way only repeated visits can, with the changing light during the day, the rhythm of the alleys, and the sea’s unique look in the afternoon.
We always make sure to plan a day-after session at one of the island's special spots. Once the wedding day is over, Koufonisia reveals a different side. The light, the sea views, and the peaceful corners of the island. With its mix of bare rock and open sea, a few hours that are just for the two of you.
