Wedding Film Ekali | Alexia & Frank
The Event
Alexia and Frank married in Ekali, a wedding that was planned for Skiathos and took place in Attica instead, into something smaller and more specific. The day before, the whole group gathered at the Acropolis and ended the evening with champagne on Filopappou at sunset. The ceremony was at Genesio tis Theotokou, the reception at the family's private villa in Ekali. Frank sang Queen's Don't Stop Me Now at the party. The day after, Alexia and Frank went to Penteli and photographed among the rock formations at Spilia Daveli.
Our Approach
The narration at the opening of this film was written by us: In the challenge of constant change, we find ourselves in each other. It was the right sentence for a wedding that had changed its plans and found something better.
The film runs three distinct locations across two days, the Acropolis, Ekali and Penteli, each with its own atmosphere and its own light. The edit holds them together without forcing them into the same register.
The Destinations
Ekali is in the northern suburbs of Athens, a quiet neighbourhood of large homes and old pine trees, far from the busy city. It is not a typical wedding destination, which is exactly what makes it specific. The church of Genesio tis Theotokou, the Nativity of the Theotokos, is at the heart of the neighbourhood and gives the ceremony a rootedness that destination venues cannot produce. The Acropolis pre-wedding and the Penteli day-after give the film two additional locations that belong to Athens and to no other city.
This film is part of our Weddings filmed in Greece and our work at Elegant Wedding Ekali.
