What is Love?
Elopement Film Mykonos & Athens | Sandra & Romain
The Event
Sandra and Romain came from Hong Kong by way of France. Two destinations marked their path. Athens first, a neoclassical Plaka house, the streets below the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Areopagus and Filopappou hill at sunset with the Acropolis behind them. Then Mykonos, the lighthouse, Paraportiani, Mikri Venetia, the Myloi windmills and Agios Sostis beach in November, when the island belongs to itself.
The film runs both destinations together and asks one question throughout: what is love?
Our Approach
The film was built around a concept before we arrived. The question, what is love, gave the edit its structure and its voice. Romain's answer runs through the film alongside the images: Sandra is his priority. Her happiness matters more than his. Loving her makes him want to be better.
We filmed across two cities, two registers of light, two different versions of what Greece offers in November. The editing held those two worlds together and let the question do the work.
The Destinations
Athens and Mykonos are two entirely different destinations that happen to be in the same country. Athens is ancient, urban, layered, the Acropolis above the city, the old Plaka neighbourhood below it, the light that changes register every hour. Mykonos in November is quieter and more specific, the whitewashed Cycladic architecture, the lighthouse at the western tip, the windmills above the waterfront.
For an elopement film, the combination of the two gives the edit contrast and movement. One city, one island, one couple, one question.
This film is part of our Weddings filmed in Greece.
