The wedding
Anthi and Giannis built their wedding around a contradiction they'd already negotiated. Giannis loves roller coasters. Anthi doesn't. For the pre-wedding shoot they rode together anyway — his idea, her trust. The ceremony was held at Panagia Faneromeni in Vouliagmeni, the Cycladic-influenced church designed by Voula Didoni, and the reception followed at Island Residence on the Athenian Riviera — quieter and more contained than the park, but running on the same understanding.
Our approach
The pre-wedding session was theirs to frame. We photographed the roller coaster ride on their terms, their picture of their relationship. The ceremony took place inside Panagia Faneromeni, a church whose glass arches, modern hagiography by George Kordis and St. Petersburg-gilded iconostasis make it unlike anything else in Attica. We worked the interior light carefully and stayed out of the congregation's sightlines. At Island Residence the day picked up. Its garden, its lower horizon compared to the Gallery or Private House, its light moving across the façade. We held off on portraits until the sun cleared and let the reception find its pace. Film and photography ran together through the day, the way we work every story we're commissioned for.
