A Greek island wedding rarely fits into a single day. Guests arrive early and leave late, and the days around the ceremony fill with time a city wedding never allows: welcome dinners, pre-wedding parties, a photobooth set up for the evening, a beach gathering the afternoon before. Among these, the cruise has become one of the defining fixtures of an island wedding week, the moment when the wedding party and the guests are, briefly, just people on a boat together.

For guests who have never done this before, it tends to be the part of the trip they talk about longest. The water changes colour as the boat moves between coves, deep blue further out, nearly clear closer to shore. Swimming stops between islets. Ouzo poured on deck, lunch built from whatever the island's kitchens do best that season, family and friends who rarely sit at the same table doing exactly that. There is no schedule to keep. The day runs at its own pace until the light turns and the boat heads back to port, everyone sunburnt, fed, and quieter than they were that morning.

A cruise day is different from a wedding day. There is no ceremony, no single moment everything builds toward. Instead there is a boat, a route, a relaxed group and several hours where nothing is scheduled and everything is worth having on film.

We work with the boat operator ahead of time to understand the route: which coves, what time the light will be best over each stretch of water, when the boat stops long enough for people to swim. Equipment stays minimal and protected against salt and spray, and most of the day is shot from a low, unobtrusive position so the group forgets a camera is there at all. Drone coverage picks up the wider view, the boat against the coastline, when conditions allow. Underwater shooting comes into play if it is needed to give a different perspective.

What comes back from these days rarely resembles the formal wedding album. It is looser, more physical, closer to how the group actually spent the afternoon. That is deliberate. A cruise day should look like one and carry the warmth of the sunset sun and the sweet exhaustion everyone feels having experienced a full day like this.

This material, like party images taken throughout the wedding, usually ends up folded into the main gallery, where they get lost behind the ones that feel more important, the ceremony, the first dance, the formal portraits. But these are often the moments people most enjoy looking back on, the ones that would otherwise disappear inside the volume of a collection. We curate and edit them separately and present them back as a gallery, a dedicated highlight cruise film, or a printed magazine.

A cruise day can be photographed, filmed, or both, depending on what the group wants to keep. For couples active on social media, a short reel is often the most natural format for the footage, built specifically for that use rather than repurposed from the main wedding film.

For a more lasting version, we also design custom hardcover magazines on eco paper, a way to keep the cruise and party images that never made it into the main album, presented as a gift the couple can hand to their guests or keep for themselves.

A cruise day works best planned as part of the wedding week rather than as a separate addition. Most couples schedule it a day or two before or after the ceremony, so the wider group, family who arrived early, guests staying on afterward, has one shared afternoon together outside the structure of the wedding itself.

Group size is flexible and mostly set by the size of the boat. A small caique holds a handful of people comfortably, a larger charter can carry the whole wedding party. On occasions two boats have been commissioned. Our approach stays the same regardless of size: minimal direction, coverage that follows what is actually happening on board.

If we are already booked for the wedding, the cruise day is folded into the same commission rather than arranged separately, so travel, timing and the rest of the week's schedule are planned together. The only thing we need to know is the size of the group and what type of coverage you need, so we can adapt our team accordingly
