The Event
The day before, a welcome party by the pool at the Corfu Palace Hotel, overlooking the Old Fortress and Garitsa Bay. A multi-cultured group of guests from around the globe set the tone. The ceremony took place at Saint Jacob's Cathedral, a 16th-century Baroque creation in the heart of the old town. Ernesto arrived with his family and traditionally dressed Corfiot musicians. Marina followed with her father and guitarists playing through the cobbled streets. After the ceremony, the guests moved to Triklino Estate. Acres of centenary olive groves, fairy lights, chandeliers and floral arrangements that made even the most sceptical guests reconsider their position on fairytales. The next morning, lunch by the seaside.
Our Approach
Corfu has an architecture and atmosphere that does a lot of the work for you. The old town, the Venetian facades, the quality of light in summer. What this wedding added was a collision of cultures — Greek, Cuban, Catholic — that gave every moment a particular charge. We always take a step back when a father hands his daughter to the groom. In Corfu, with that backdrop, it was something else entirely.
The Destination
Corfu is one of those destinations that carries its own mythology. The Venetians left their mark on the architecture, the Baroque facades and the cobbled streets of the old town. The British left their cricket pitch. The French left their arcade. What remained is an island with an extraordinary layering of cultures, a UNESCO World Heritage old town, and a quality of light that makes everything look considered.
For a wedding, Corfu offers genuine variety. The old town for ceremony, estates like Triklino set among centenary olive groves for reception. Beaches, luxury hotels, a coastline that changes character from north to south. It is an island that absorbs destination weddings naturally, without reducing them to a backdrop. The wedding film Corfu produces almost writes itself. Almost.
