ABOUT

A wedding at Ktima Kokotou for Athina and Dimitris, among the vineyards in the soft afternoon light, combined with baby Panagiotis' christening. Photography by arChive Visual Storytellers.

The WEDDING

Athina and Dimitris married at Ktima Kokotou, a family-run winery in Stamata, Attica, set among vineyards the estate has tended for decades. The ceremony and reception moved through the estate's grounds as the afternoon light softened, with the vineyard rows themselves forming the backdrop for much of the day.

The wedding also carried the christening of baby Panagiotis, the two occasions folded into one afternoon, a wedding and a blessing marking the completion of the same family's year.

Portraits took the couple into the vineyard itself, and into the estate's tasting room, where a glass of the winery's own wine became part of the day's imagery rather than an afterthought, tying the couple's portraits directly to the legacy of Kokotos wine estate.

Hair and make-up were done by Vassilis Diamantopoulos, and we photographed the session as part of the day rather than treating it as preparation to skip past. The day's set-up and food came from Deipnosofistirion, a caterer we work with regularly, and whose recommendation was in fact how Athina and Dimitris found us.

Our approach

A vineyard gives a wedding a different kind of backdrop than most Athens venues, rows of vines rather than architecture, so we worked to let that structure lead the portraits rather than treating the vineyard as scenery behind the couple. Long lines of vines running toward the horizon gave us depth to work with, and the softening afternoon light meant timing mattered as much as position.

Combining a wedding and a christening in one afternoon meant planning two ceremonies without either one crowding the other, staying alert to the handoff between them so the day read as one continuous celebration rather than two separate events sharing a date.

The tasting room gave us a different register entirely, indoor, intimate, built around the estate's own wine rather than the open vineyard outside. Working there meant slowing down after the ceremony's pace, letting a single glass and the room's own materials carry the image rather than the landscape.

Every wedding we shoot gets its own double exposure edit for the hero image, layering the venue's own texture, here the winery's wood and stone, against a defining moment of the day. It's a technique we return to often, a way of pushing a single image past a straightforward record and into something closer to art.
