Tritsis Park sits in the western suburbs of Athens, one of the largest green spaces in the city. Inside the park, on a hill surrounded by pine and cypress trees, stands the chapel of Apostoloi Petros and Pavlos, a small Orthodox church with a distinctive architecture and interior frescoes by Fotis Kontoglou, one of the most significant Greek ecclesiastical painters of the 20th century. It is the kind of place that requires knowing where to look.

Marina and Antonis married there on a September day, with their closest family around them. The wedding was intimate by design, a ceremony in a hidden chapel, a family gathering, nothing performed for a crowd. The choice of location said everything about what the day was for.

The chapel sits inside a forested hill and the light through the pines moves differently from anything in the city around it. We arrived in advance and studied the location before the ceremony.
Before arriving we had learned enough about Marina and Antonis to know what this wedding was. Intimate, specific, chosen for reasons that had nothing to do with spectacle. The photography followed that register from the start.
