Wedding Film Paxi | Xenia & Pantelis

A wedding film from Paxi for Xenia and Pantelis. Four days of celebration across the island, ceremony by candlelight at Panagia Vellianiton on a boat-access islet, and reception at Mongonissi Beach. Film by arChive Visual Storytellers.

The Event

Paxi or Paxoi if you prefer is a small island in the Ionian, just south of Corfu, with olive groves running down to the water and a coastline of sea caves and fjord-like inlets that most of Greece doesn't know exist. Xenia and Pantelis gave it four days.

The ceremony was held at Panagia Vellianiton, a 16th-century monastery on the uninhabited islet of Panagia across from Gaios harbour, accessible only by boat. The church had no electricity. The ceremony took place by candlelight. The reception moved to Mongonissi Beach and continued well into the night.

Our Approach

Paxi requires planning that most island weddings don't. The ceremony islet has no electricity and no road access, everything, including lighting equipment, arrives by boat. We split the team on the wedding day: half with Xenia for preparations and the kaiki crossing to the church, the rest with Pantelis on his rib. A drone covered Xenia's arrival at the islet so nothing was missed.
We arrived before the wedding and spent time on the water with Captain Yiannis on the Kaiki Agios Sevastianos, understanding the island's coves and the light on the water at different hours. Four days and complete trust from Xenia and Pantelis gave us the time to work properly.

The Destination

Paxi sits at the southern end of the Ionian island chain, small enough to cross in an afternoon and distinctive enough to stay with you. The olive groves, the sea caves, the harbour at Gaios and the islet monastery across from it, the island has a particular atmosphere that the Ionian produces and nowhere else replicates.
For a wedding film, Paxoi offers candlelight in a monastery, a boat crossing, a beach reception and four days of island life. It is a location that gives a film its own register without needing anything imposed on it.
